DGGR-Student Financial Support Program

The Dene Gha Gok’e Rehkw’I policy has implemented a student support “top up” fund also recognition award program for beneficiary students. Copy of policy for your review.

Eligibility:

  • Encouraging beneficiaries to pursue and explore educational endeavours, which promote and benefits the well being of Délı̨nę beneficiaries.

  • Providing ‘top up’ financial support which complements funds provided by other organizations and/or governments.

  • Grad Awards: Recognizing those that have followed through with their studies and successfully completed their program(s).

  • Summer Student Awards: Recognizing those that have chosen to pursue summer employment or practicum placement in Délı̨nę and have excelled in completing their employment or practicum period.

The purpose of this fund is:

Grad Awards

  • Students must apply for any Grad Awards within in six (6) months of completing their program. Students must submit documentation of achievement in form of certificate, diploma, license, degree with application form.

DGG-AADNC Post-Secondary Funds

In collaboration with the government of Canada, The Délı̨nę Got’ı̨nę Government has implemented this scholarship program for all students affiliated to the band formerly known as Délı̨nę First Nations. Members of formerly known as Délı̨nę First Nations can apply. These funds will assist members with educational costs. Copy of policy for your review.

The purpose of this fund is:

  • To encourage and assist members to pursue a post secondary, trades or vocational studies leading to a professional career.

  • Provide financial support for members to pursue post secondary, trades or vocational studies.

  • Financial support for all members who don’t qualify for other government (federal/territorial/provincial) education funding programs.
  • Student can’t receive scholarship program if applied to Sahtu Secretariat Inc of any other organization.

Eligibility:

  • Registered status Indian affiliated with the band formally known as Délı̨nę First Nation.

  • Does NOT quality to receive student financial assistance with GNWT SFA, UCEP or ISETS programs.

  • Accepted and enrolled in a recognized post-secondary education program as a full-time or part time student.

  • There is NO deadline to apply for funding (funding is processed on date of application)

University and College Entrance Preparation Program (UCEP) for NWT Residents

This program provides student financial assistance for Registered Status Indians to enroll into full time post-secondary studies that will prepare them to enter a college or university program. Applicants are eligible to receive financial assistance tuition, books and living allowance for a maximum of ten months (two semesters).

Applicants may also be eligible for a travel allowance. Eligible Applicants are encouraged to apply to Indigenous Services Canada directly. Applications must be sent to Indigenous Service Canada.
